Rathmines Writers Workshop Reading

3.00pm this Saturday 24th Mar, as part of Rathmines Community Clubs and Soc's Day, writers from the Rathmines Writers Workshop will read from their own work. The event is taking place in the Town Hall, Rathmines and admission is free.

Also worth mentioning that there is an opportunity to play chess courtesy of Rathmines Chess Club.

Rathmines Community Clubs n Soc's Day

A new departure in this part of town and maybe the first of many: Rathmines Community Clubs n Soc's Day, Saturday, 24th March from 12:00 until 17:00 in Rathmines Town Hall.

This is a free event which presents the community in the Rathmines area with an opportunity to meet members from a variety of organisations (clubs, societies, volunteering organisations and community groups)active in their locality, to get information on activities, events and membership.

So grab the opportunity to become more active, part of what's happening. The day is being organised by Cultural and Corporate Project Management students in Rathmines College.

Reading by the Russian-Irish novelist, poet and literary translator.

1:45pm Vereneja
Dance group with an eastern European
heritage, perform dances from all over the world.

2:15pm Ostroha Dance Group
Slovakian Dancers performing traditional
Eastern European folk. A Cultural event to be enjoyed by all the family.

3:00pm Vladimir Jablokov
This Slovakian violinist and his quartet
are a must see, giving the audience a
truly unique performance.

4.15pm MuteFish
Traditional music as you’ve never seen it before. A high energy performance.

8.00pm Eric Lalor
After touring with Des Bishop on his
record breaking “Fitting In Tour” Eric Lalor has truly made a name for himself. Belly achingly funny.

9.00pm Don Baker
Irish blues musician and actor. He is a legend. A performance not to be missed.

Festival Under the Clock

The Rathmines leg of Rathmines Festival has just added two real treats to its programme, the "Legend of Luke Kelly" at 8pm, Sat 25th. Chris Kavanagh and The
Patriots recreate the sound of the legendary singer. It's been received with rave reviews everywhere and Kavanagh is by all accounts a dead ringer for Kelly.

The second is Colm O'Snodaigh of Kila who'll be presenting songs from his solo album, Giving.Fans of Kila will tell you that this is a gig not to be missed; it's at 3.30pm Sat 25th.The gigs are free and are happening in Rathmines College,under the clock :)

Cork Invasion of Rathmines

Arts Management students of Rathmines College will present “Festival Under The Clock” a festival within Rathmines Festival on April 25th. And that’s where the invasion will occur with singer/songwriter Ger Wolfe and poet Gerry Murphy taking the stage together.

Hidden Dublin Treasure

Rathmines Town Hall,home of Rathmines College, is one of the most recognizable and familiar of Dublin landmarks. But it hides a secret. Even the vast majority of students passing through its doors daily don’t know in spite of the evidence being in plain view on the walls around them.

The fact is that it houses a Victorian concert hall, still pretty much intact and masked by the classrooms built within it. It is unique in Dublin, grand in its design; literally a hidden treasure.
