Teenage years can leave you with regrets. You become so important to yourself, care for others drops sharply. It's normal, maybe even necessary for many, but the legacy is life-long.
Before The End
The bedside lamp shone
in the pool of her eye,
made her teeth translucent,

The room, smelling of
trapped breath,
sickness and decay, made me anxious
that I would inhale her disease;
and all I loved gone;
all dwindled down to duty.
